Do fish supplied by fish farms have antibiotics given to them?
We can only guarantee that at Kimagro Fish Farm, we do not give any medication or antibiotics to our fish at any stage of their development prior to harvesting. Provenance of our fish: eggs originate at a local hatchery and are developed into Fry (baby fish); naturally and without any hormones, medicine or antibiotics.

Is it safe to eat fish from a fish farm?
Yes, and for Kimagro in particular, the clean Mediterranean Sea surrounding Cyprus, coupled with strong currents, creates ideal farming conditions for the production of an exceptional and consistent quality of fish both in terms of its appearance, taste and overall freshness.

What are fish fed on exactly?
Kimagro fish are fed on quality fish feed. Kimagro purchase one of the best that currently exists on the market and is based on the following key factors:
• contains NO proteins from land animals
• high quality fish meal – quality assured by means of certification
• maintain fresh stock on site
• regularly analyse and verify the quality and ingredients of the fish feed by an approved external laboratory,
approved by the Veterinary Services.

Do farmed fish have the essential omega 3 fatty acids?
Yes and Kimagro fish contain more of these polyunsaturated acids than the equivalent fish found in the wild.

How much fish should be eaten towards a balanced diet?

Is Kimagro an environmentally sustainable and responsible fish farm?
The Company is an active member of the national body: Cyprus Mariculture Association which joined FEAP (The Federation of European Aquaculture Producers) in May 1997 at the Annual General Assembly in Sevilla
Kimagro is fully committed to professionalism in both its activities as an expert fish farm and its dedication to its qualified and loyal workforce.
Important to note here that fish welfare and a sustainable environment is important to Kimagro Fishfarm. That is why Environmental Impact Reports are regularly commissioned and provided to the local Government in accordance to the Company’s permit duties. These are available to the public upon request. Kimagro promotes a policy of transparency and is keen to promote a better understanding of the aquaculture industry for members of the public and specifically its consumers.

As a customer (including B2B and consumers alike), how can I be sure that your fish can be traced to source?
All details are given to Kimagro from the local hatchery regarding development from the egg up to 2gm Fry stage: including quality of both live and dry food.
Fry are delivered to Kimagro in batches (with specific codes) to include quantities and actual weight contained per batch.
Fry are then assigned to specific cage batch number and remain in same cage for entire lifetime prior to harvest.
Kimagro always wants to reflect the Company’s policies and processes through internationally accepted standards, hence in 2004 had successfully obtained HACCP approval, followed more recently with the ISO certification.
